Argentina is famous for its delicious cuisine, such as asado, empanadas, chimichurri, beef, and many other dishes. But what you might not have known about is their fruit dishes!
This South American country takes ordinary fruit and makes them into absolutely delectable dishes. Here are 3 Argentina fruit recipes that you need to try this summer!
1. Argentine Fruit Salad
This recipe is amazing because you can customize it to whatever fruit you have or like. Simple to make, this fruit salad will be the highlight of any hot summer day.
You’ll need 2 cups cut fruit, 200 grams sweet cream, 6 tablespoons white sugar, 2 egg whites (beaten), vanilla, and lemon juice.
In a bowl, beat together the cream, vanilla, and 1/3 of the sugar until light. Then, in another bowl, beat together the egg whites and 1/3 of the sugar until stiff.
Use a mixer and put the whites into the cream. In a third bowl, combine the fruit, and the last 1/3 of sugar. Add a splash of lemon juice and mix well.
For the finishing touch, put the fruit mixture into cups and top with the cream.
2. Dulce de Leche Fruit Salad
If you’re trying to eat healthily, this will have to be a fruit salad to pass on. Otherwise, dive straight into this sweet and fruity dessert!
You’ll need 1 papaya and 4 of the following fruit: apples, mandarin oranges, bananas, oranges, and peaches. You’ll also need a jar of dulce de leche and a bag of gummy candy.
Peel the fruits that need it and then slice each one into small cubes. Combine them all together in a large bowl. Put in the dulce de leche and gummy candy.
Put the whole bowl into the refrigerator and chill the dessert. Once it’s cold, take it out of the fridge and scoop into individual small bowls to serve.
3. Passion Fruit Custard
This refreshing dessert will top off any meal, no matter if it’s a juicy steak or some pasta. While it uses passion fruit pulp, this recipe also makes use of fresh passion fruit.
You’ll need 3/4 cup sugar, 1 egg and 3 yolks, 1 cup milk, 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, and 1/3 cup passion fruit pulp. For the syrup, you’ll need 1/3 cup sugar and 4 passion fruits (slice them in half and save the seeds and pulp).
Melt 1/2 cup sugar until it’s deep brown; this will take about 13 minutes. Pour the caramel into a prepared springform pan.
Combine the remaining sugar with the egg and yolks. When it thickens, add the milk, condensed milk, and passion fruit pulp. Mix until it’s a custard, then pour it over the caramel.
Bake the custard in the oven in a water bath for about 1 hour, then let it cool.
For the syrup, boil the sugar and 1/4 cup water for 10 minutes. Add the seeds and pulp until the pulp’s dissolved, then let it cool.
To serve, drizzle the syrup over the sliced wedges of custard.
