Mojitos are great but Pisco Sour is my drink of choice.
Even though it received its name from the Peruvian coastal town of Pisco, both Chile and Peru claim to have invented this trendy cocktail. Tracing its roots back to 1500’s, it is a superb distilled spirit made from fresh pressed grapes.
The most common recipe calls for pisco, simple syrup, lime juice, egg whites, a dash of Angostura bitters and ice. It is considered one of the finest and purest alcoholic beverages in the world.
The pisco sour recipe is quite straight forward and quick to prepare. Or if you want to really simplify things, you can use a Pisco Sour Mix, made from natural Peruvian ingredients which lets you easily prepare the traditional national drink of Peru.
Pisco Sour is so popular it even gets its own holiday: the first Saturday in February is Pisco Sour Day. Enjoy it as an aperitif with some salted maiz cancha. Or as a frothy afternoon cocktail on a hot summer day with friends… Salud!
