This is one of the pastry options typically available in Puerto Rico. It is a lightly sweet bread pastry topped with a bit of sugar. It is similar to some donuts and pastries found in the United States, but it isn’t quite as sweet.
This pastry is made out of eggs, sugar, flour, water, and yeast. The dough is then rolled out to be paper-thin sheets and then topped with a layer of lard.
From there, each part is rolled into the shape of sausage before being coiled and left to rise. After rising, the bread is baked.
